Projection as a fluid medium

Davis Ayer (Artist)

This artist uses projection on the body to make beautifully distorted versions of the human form - working with the idea of front projection almost as if it is a painting medium on the skin.

This reminds me of some of my practice - projecting images onto the skin. This is an idea I can still explore except looking more at words/patterning and actual "scenes" from my created worlds rather than just looking at interesting colours and images as this artist seems to. The work is too much like fashion/art photography for me. I am interested in making figures/faces appear genderless when I use them so it is something I can explore as additional content for my installation - as I mentioned previously in my sketchbook, I want to create my installation with fragmented aspects as I looked at when beginning my project. I am considering using elements of straight forward photography in my final piece for the Degree Show - it is something that would create an interesting effect, however I do not want the pieces too "distract" too much from each other as it is important for the environment to be immersive and engaging to the audience. I want the work to create a sensory experience for the audience, to effect them in some way - I have achieved some of this from the feedback I got from my previous installations...people commented that the work was sinister and the eyes of my Face piece engaged with them on a dramatic level. YES.
